Home of the Innocents has been our region's open arms to kids in crisis since 1880. The Home has three major service divisions:
The Kosair Charities Pediatric Convalescent Center is a home for children who are medically fragile. These children have medical needs that require 24-hour skilled care; some are dependent on ventilators and feeding tubes, and all are in wheelchairs and have limited verbal communication abilities. The Center's staff care for patients from birth through age 21.
The Childkind Center has an extensive range of programs. Some of them include an emergency shelter and residential treatment for children who require care because of abuse, neglect or family crisis; a program assisting homeless young adults with integration into the community; and therapeutic support for at-risk families and severely emotionally disturbed children. Therapeutic Loving foster Care is a family-based alternative to institutional treatment for children with serious emotional and behavioral conditions.
Open Arms Children's Health is an integrated healthcare facility offering pediatric medical, dental, hearing, vision, behavioral health and pharmacy under one roof. Open Arms specializes in serving children with special needs, low-income families and children in foster care, but is open to all children in Kentucky and Indiana. Open Arms professionals are trained to meet complex needs and can often address multiple issues across disciplines in a same-day visit.
