We are currently recruiting for a Psychologist Senior for the Adult Admissions Unit (AAU) at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, NC. The Psychologist Senior provides a full range of psychological services in accordance with state and federal regulations, institution and departmental policy/procedures and ethical standards. This position selects and completes age and needs-appropriate interviews, psychological tests and measures, screenings, and other evidence-based semi-structured assessments with in-patient adults with acute mental illness, using data collected to inform case conceptualization and treatment planning. This role also completes functional analyses and other behavioral assessments for those patients with significant behavior disorders and uses the data to inform case conceptualization and treatment planning. This position attends and participates in interdisciplinary team activities including Master Treatment Planning, Treatment Plan Reviews, Incident Reviews, design and implementation of individual and group interventions such as behavioral intervention plans, data collection systems, and group behavioral systems. In addition, this position provides staff training and review of interventions according to staff training needs for implementation of interventions, behavioral systems, data collection systems, skills training, and other methods. This position provides behavioral interventions, individual and group therapy, capacity restoration, psychoeducation, and skills training in accordance with Treatment Plans as well as clinical supervision of practicum and intern student training in a way that prepares the student for the practice of psychology in the areas/rotation provided during the experience.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package. The normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs.

Qualified candidates must document on the application education/work experience that clearly demonstrates the following:
- Competency in providing a full range of psychological services to acutely mentally ill adults in an in-patient psychiatric hospital
- Knowledge of community resources, institutional policies/procedures, and state law regarding psychological treatment
- Knowledge of the theories and practices of the field of psychology including behavior analysis and other learning theories, the social learning model, biological bases of behavior and human development (normal and psychopathological)
- Knowledge of psychometrically sound tests and assessments of psychological, neuropsychological, educational, and adaptive functioning
- Skill in selection, administration, and interpretation (orally and in writing) of age and need-appropriate tests and test batteries, including those of a complex, comprehensive nature including diagnostic assessment batteries
- Knowledge of research design and statistics
- Skill in relating expressively and dynamically with both patients and colleagues both orally and in writing
- Ability to translate knowledge and information about ethnic and cultural backgrounds into treatment interventions including the consideration of cultural norms and values in assessments, treatment, and training
- Leadership ability that promotes mutual respect and problem-solving among all disciplines and demonstrates a commitment to high quality care

Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
