PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER or PSYCHIATRIST

This is a FSLA exempt position.  The incumbent provides quality psychiatric evaluation and treatment of patients receiving services through our Emergency Services Short Term Stabilization (ESSTS) programs which includes Wellness Recovery Center crisis stabilization program and the Mohr Center residential substance abuse treatment among other developing programs. The psychiatric provider is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and will serve as a clinical staff admitting, assessing, and serving those within the 24 hour a day programs.  He/she may provide supervision and consultation to other members of the clinical staff and other agencies by review of case presentations, daily treatment team meetings and collaboration in treatment planning especially in the areas of differential diagnosis, substance use disorders, psychiatric illnesses and treatment, and comorbid medical issues. 

The incumbent will receive direct clinical supervision from the Region Ten Medical Director and other staff psychiatrist(s) and will be under the administrative supervision of the ESSTS program directors and ESSTS Senior Director.  The incumbent will perform in accordance with licensure standards, professional ethics and established Region Ten policies. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

NP: The incumbent is required by laws of the Commonwealth to have Bachelors in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner Certificate; Master’s degree with accreditation as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing is preferred.  Must have active license to practice as a nurse practitioner in Virginia through the Virginia Board of Nursing and meet all training requirements to do so.  Must have been approved through Virginia Board of Nursing for autonomous practice or enter into a collaborative practice agreement with a staff psychiatrist.

PSYCH: The incumbent is required by laws of the Commonwealth to have an M.D. degree, and a license to practice medicine in Virginia.

GRADE:      Nurse Practitioner:  15 

                    Psychiatrist: 23 

                    Salary negotiable depending on qualifications

SCHEDULE:  8 hours/day Monday through Friday with occasional after hours call for specific consumer-focused concerns
